President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde to Join Michael R. Bloomberg and More Than 50 Heads of State and 250 International CEOs at Inaugural Global Business Forum

New platform brings together public and private sector leaders from every region in the world in New York City on September 20th

Agenda centers on business and government collaboration for economic growth and social progress

Bloomberg today announced the agenda for the inaugural Global Business Forum where business and government leaders from around the world will convene to discuss innovative and collaborative ways to solve new opportunities and challenges to global economic growth. The one-day forum will take place at the Plaza Hotel in New York City on Wednesday, September 20th in partnership with the Alibaba Group; Dangote Industries Limited; EXOR, the holding company controlled by the Agnelli family; the Mahindra Group; and MiSK, the philanthropic foundation of His Royal Highness Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The program for the day centers on globalization, both its challenges and opportunities. Following a powerful opening video presentation featuring LeBron James, the program will kick off with remarks from President Bill Clinton, Michael R. Bloomberg, President Emmanuel Macron and Jack Ma; Arundhati Bhattacharya will discuss how financial institutions can help deliver broad-based prosperity; Christine Lagarde will moderate a panel on the prospects for expanding trade with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Laurence D. Fink; Federica Mogherini will offer her perspective of the European Union in the 21st Century in a conversation with Adm. Michael Mullen; President Nana Akufo-Addo will share his perspective on Africa and sustainable development goals; Francine Lacqua will moderate a panel with Ajay Banga, John Elkann, Anand G. Mahindra, Arif Naqvi and Paul Polman on why the UN’s sustainable development goals are good for business; Ambassador Cui Tiankai, Lucy Peng, Vijay Sharma, and Zhang Xiaoqiang join a panel to discuss China’s belt and road initiative and the changing landscape of global commerce; followed by a close of the morning program by Robert K. Steel.

In the afternoon, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will share his views on security for a region in flux in a conversation with John Micklethwait; Ian Bremmer will moderate a panel with Yasir bin Othman Al-Rumayyan, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber and Lloyd Blankfein on development, investment, and the future of energy in the Middle East; First Vice-President Frans Timmermans, Isabelle Kocher and Strive Masiyiwa will discuss climate change, mass migration, and economic transformations; Jean Liu will offer her perspective of the future of global cities; Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and John Micklethwait will discuss security and the future of Europe from a Roman perspective; and David Rubenstein will moderate a panel on how technology is disrupting poverty, energy, and health care with Aliko Dangote, Bill Gates, Indra Nooyi and Masayoshi Son.
